The Grocer’s Gorgeous Granite Package
What would Lysekil be without its beautiful, red granite rock? We are incredibly lucky to be able to run our hotel operation within a stone’s throw of the Stångehuvud Nature Reserve, saved by Mrs Calla Curman from the devastation caused by quarrying. The area offers magnificent sunsets, smooth rocks, a salty sea breeze, and wonderful views across the ocean. Granite features everywhere in our little town – the majestic church is built from it, and so is the impressive building housing the local newspaper. In the lovely town park is a large granite relief named ‘Bohuslänsk krönika’, by the artist Ivana Machackova. It consists of six large granite rocks with a combined weight of 30 tonnes, and depicts the 4,000 year-history of Bohuslän, from the Bronze Age, through the Viking Era and Middle Ages, the Herring Era, the Stonecutting Period, and all the way to modern times.
You select the difficulty and distance for your walk, we provide comfortable beds, a delightful turn of the century atmosphere, and Fröken Fridhem’s delicious meals!
